Harry Takayama is a guest character on both Full and Fuller House. He was first introduced in the Full House season 2 episode D.J.'s Very First Horse and made his last Full House appearance in Nerd for a Day, but was last mentioned in Our Very First Telethon. He made his first Fuller House appearance in War of the Roses and his last one in Our Very Last Show, Again
History
Full House
In Full House, Harry is described as a nice, easy-going kid, however seems to be influenced a lot by the people around him. He does not seem to be fond of mathematics, and mentions that he's ready to drop out of school and become a Boy Scout about his frustration with subtraction. He is a close friend of Stephanie and was always welcome to the Tanner House. He and Stephanie got 'married' in the Full House episode 'Middle Age Crazy'.
Post Fuller House
Given his previous difficulty with mathematics, he ironically studies the subject accounting in college and becomes a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). In War of the Roses it is revealed that Harry is Jesse's accountant. Stephanie says to Becky that once every few years, he tries to do something crazy to get together with her, but she wouldn't give him a shot. He returned as a guest cameo in the Fuller House finale, pictured smiling when Stephanie and Jesse were sharing a dance.
Fuller House
Harry makes an appearance in episode 9 of the first season. He had not heard back from Stephanie about his actual wedding invitation (being taken by Cosmo and hidden under Max's bed) texted and visited the Tanner house to find out why. Becky, D.J and Kimmy believe that he still has a crush on Stephanie and also think that he is one of the candidates for sending a room full of roses (amongst Fernando and Matt). After Becky's interrogation rules him out of the chances, he tells them the real reason he came to visit, which was the fact that he was getting married 'for real this time, no holy mattress money' and says that the invitation was sent to her. Stephanie finds the invitation and tells him that she'll be there. His last line is 'Do you want the chicken or the fish?'
Relationships
Stephanie Tanner - Best Friend/'Ex-Wife'
As depicted in Full House, Harry and Stephanie are good friends. He would usually call Stephanie "Chief," and she calls him her boyfriend – believing it only meant a boy who is her friend. This leads to a pretend wedding in the episode "Middle Age Crazy," in which he dumps her when he finds out his mom is making meatloaf. In Fuller House, it is revealed that they still remained friends since.
Unnamed Wife
Harry reveals that he is getting married in Fuller House. Since then, she has not been depicted or mentioned at all.
Trivia
- Although unmentioned, Harry seems to be of Japanese descent. This is because of his surname (Takayama) which roughly translates to 'high mountain'
- He is the first character to be recast for Fuller House after Nelson Burkhard
- He is the first character of Asian descent in the Full House franchise (the second being Lola Wong)
